La telefonía 5G requerirá instalar unas 40.000 nuevas antenas en todo el país
La implementación adecuada de la nueva generación de telefonía celular 5G en la Argentina requerirá al menos 40.000 nuevas antenas o radiobases y la remoción de trabas burocráticas para su instalación a nivel municipal, se destacó en el marco del Primer Encuentro Convercom 2019. Así lo planteó el consultor Sebastián Cabello al precisar que los requerimientos de las nuevas radiobasesrepresenta aproximadamente tres veces los existentes actualmente en el país, lo que permitirá pasar de 20.000 a 60.000 antenas para las futuras comunicaciones celulares 5G.
Sin embargo, los expositores coincidieron que el emplazamiento de las bases se ve obstaculizado por una serie de normas restrictivas locales dictadas muchas veces por el desconocimiento o los temores que las irradiaciones sean perjudiciales contra la salud. La problemática de la nueva generación de telefonía móvil se debatió en el Primer Encuentro Convercom 2019, evento organizado por el Centro de Estudios sobre la Convergencia en Comunicaciones, bajo la consigna “Desafío Antenas”. Con velocidades ultrarrápidas y un ancho de banda muy superior al actual, que permite la conexión mayor número de equipos, la telefonía 5G es considerada especialmente apta para Internet de las Cosas, BigData, telecontrol, streaming de video y otras aplicaciones innovadoras.
El secretario de Tecnologías de Información y Comunicaciones de la Nación, Héctor Huici, dijo sin embargo que “el problema es político” dado que las jurisdicciones locales actúan de esa manera por presión de los vecinos “en su carácter de votantes”, que pueden tener información equivocada. Agustín Garzón, uno de los directores del ente regulador Enacom, informó que con el programa Antenas Amigables “se logró trabajar en más de 500 municipios y modificar más de 80 ordenanzas para facilitar el despliegue de infraestructura”. El funcionario dio a conocer que durante la gestión de este gobierno “se pasó de 5 a 32 millones de usuarios 4G, de 5.000 antenas a más de 24.000 y de 16% de cobertura al 70%; pero se debe seguir trabajando para facilitar el despliegue”.
