Activistas veganos echados a fustazos en La Rural
“Nos dieron fustazos, nos golpearon, nos tiraron caballos encima”, denunciaron los activistas veganos.
Activistas veganos fueron agredidos durante una protesta pacífica que realizaron en la Exposición Rural 2019. “Nos dieron fustazos, nos golpearon, nos insultaron, nos tiraron caballos encima. Básicamente nos arrearon”, aseguró Nev, integrante de la agrupación DxE (Direct Action Everywhere), y comparó el maltrato recibido por ella y sus compañeros con el que, dijo, reciben los animales exhibidos en el predio de La Rural.
Uno de los organizadores de la protesta confirmó a este diario que, por la violencia del episodio, presentaron una denuncia ante la Justicia.
El domingo a la tarde, cerca de 40 militantes veganos convocados por las agrupaciones Acción Vegana y DxE saltaron las vallas e ingresaron a la pista central de La Rural con carteles en contra del maltrato animal que decían: “liberación animal ya”, “hasta que la última jaula quede vacía”, “basta de usar animales”, “su libertad no tiene precio”, “mientras no tengan voz, escucharás la mía”.
“Esto se trata de que los animales no tienen voz, se comunican de otra forma y nosotros tenemos que ser la voz de ellos. Queremos mostrar que ellos quieren vivir, aunque no lo pueden decir”, afirmó Nev.
Sin embargo, en una entrevista televisiva, el director de exposiciones de La Rural Alejandro Ferrero, afirmó que “la mayoría de la gente no sabe que los animales que vienen acá (a la Exposición Rural) van a ser reproductores y nunca van a faena”.
Por su parte, la Sociedad Rural Argentina dio a conocer un breve comunicado en el que asegura que la entidad “rechaza cualquier accionar violento”. El texto, además, deslindó responsabilidades al asegurar que “un grupo de activistas irrumpió en la pista alterando el desarrollo del concurso que se venía realizando. Algunos participantes, que se prepararon durante un año para competir, reaccionaron para desalojarlos”.
Atacados a piñas y rebencazos
En las imágenes registradas por activistas veganos que no ingresaron a la pista, se observa cómo algunos de los expositores golpearon a los manifestantes, los empujaron e incluso los persiguieron con los caballos. “Le pegaron un rebencazo a un muchacho, a otro le dieron piñas, a mí me dieron trompadas”, contó César Güerzoni, vocero de Acción Vegana. “La gente de prevención y la policía nos trataron bien y nos cuidaron porque estaba claro quiénes eran los violentos. Saltar una valla no es violencia”, señaló.
“Antes de la acción nos juntamos para hablar un poco lo que íbamos a hacer e hicimos hincapié en que esto era una acción no violenta –aclaró Nev–. Dijimos que lo más probable era que nos iban a insultar, violentar y que no teníamos que responder de ninguna forma”.
La activista también contó a este medio quealgunos de los manifestantes ingresaron al predio pagando la entrada de la exposición, que los sábados y domingos cuesta 250 pesos. “Desde DxE no estamos a favor de pagar porque hacerlo nos parece avalar las reproducción de la explotación animal”, agregó.
“Todos vamos a escuchar la palabra ‘vegano'”
Según Güerzoni, el objetivo de la acción era visibilizar su mensaje, que consiste en “decirle a la gente que en la industria alimentaria están pasando un montón de cosas y, si lo supieran, tomarían otras decisiones a la hora de consumir”. “Si te enterás que estás consumiendo sufrimiento y enfermedades, ¿lo seguirías haciendo? Con la información adecuada la gente actuaría de forma diferente y mejor”, sostuvo el vocero de Acción Vegana. Además, celebró que gracias a la acción “esta semana todos los argentinos vamos a escuchar la palabra ‘vegano’ y eso es un avance”.
Aunque los organizadores de la exposición advirtieron que los ejemplares llevados a Palermo no padecen maltratos, porque no van a faena, los activistas veganos sostuvieron que esos animales también sufren. “Una chancha que es reproductora ya fue trabajada genéticamente, es una atrocidad. Va a un lugar donde no se va a poder mover y va a parir hasta el último día de su vida. Yo creo que a nadie le gustaría vivir encerrado entre 4 paredes”, aseguró Güerzoni.
Por su parte, Nev señaló que, aunque “mucho de lo que se ve no es para consumo”, los expositores hacen hincapié en mostrar “la tradición”. “Algo que sólo es una demostración de lo fuerte que es un humano, de demostrar un poder sobre alguien que es inferior a vos y no puede defenderse es injustificable. Es torturar por torturar”, denunció.
“Lo que nosotros proponemos es tratar de informarnos, de entender que los animales son seres vivientes y que no podemos hacer uso de ellos a cualquier costo y precio. Esos animales cada vez tienen más derechos”, afirmó Güerzoni.
