Lanzan campaña de vacunación contra el sarampión y la rubéola
Las autoridades sanitarias anunciaron una Campaña Nacional de Seguimiento contra el sarampión y la rubéola, que se desarrollará del 1 de octubre al 30 noviembre, para todos los niños de 13 meses a 4 años.
La campaña incluye una dosis adicional, obligatoria y gratuita de vacuna triple viral, indicó la secretaría de Salud de la Nación en un comunicado.
Las vacunas se aplicarán sin necesidad de presentar una orden médica en todos los centros de salud y hospitales públicos del país, indicó.
La iniciativa apunta a evitar rebrotes de sarampión y rubéola, enfermedades que han sido erradicadas del país hace años, gracias a la vigencia del Calendario Nacional de Vacunación gratuita y obligatoria.
Los virus del sarampión y la rubéola siguen circulando en otros países y la permanente movilidad de personas genera el riesgo de que esas enfermedades vuelvan al territorio argentino, donde en forma esporádica se detectan casos de enfermos que se infectaron en el exterior.
La vacunación “es la estrategia más efectiva para prevenir el sarampión y la rubéola y la vacuna triple viral es además una oportunidad de protección contra las paperas”, subrayaron las autoridades sanitarias.
SARAMPIÓN Y RUBÉOLA
El sarampión es una enfermedad eruptiva febril que puede presentarse en todas las edades, pero es de mayor gravedad en niños menores de 5 años o desnutridos, ya que puede causarles graves complicaciones respiratorias como neumonía; enfermedades del sistema nervioso central, meningoencefalitis, ceguera, entre otras.
La rubéola es una enfermedad viral que puede presentarse en adultos y niños, pero cuando una mujer embarazada susceptible se expone al virus puede llevar a muerte fetal y neonatal.
El Síndrome de Rubeola congénita acarrea graves malformaciones en el recién nacido que producen sordera, ceguera y cardiopatías congénitas.
Las paperas es una enfermedad viral que se caracteriza por inamación de las glándulas parótidas
(glándulas salivales) y puede producir complicaciones como orquitis (inamación testicular), pancreatitis, encefalitis, entre otras.
Las autoridades sanitarias recordaron que para mayor información se puede llamar gratuitamente al 0800-222-1002, de lunes a viernes de 9 a 21 y sábados, domingos y feriados de 9 a 18.
