Tres mineros bolivianos permanecen atrapados a 70 metros de profundidad tras el derrumbe en una mina en Tocopilla, en el norte de Chile, que provocó que la boca de la chimenea que sirve de acceso quede tapada por una roca de gran tamaño, informó hoy el Servicio Nacional de Geología y Minería (Sernageomin).
El accidente ocurrió cerca de las 20 de ayer (21 de Argentina) por el “colapso de material al interior de la mina San José de Tocopilla”, señaló el Sernageomin en un comunicado difundido en su cuenta de Twitter.
“Se determinó que existe un gran “bolón” que tapa la boca de una chimenea que sirve de acceso a los mineros”, precisó el servicio de geología que agregó que hará una “pequeña detonación controlada para poder mover la roca. Es una pequeña detonación, ya que no se quiere poner en peligro la integridad de los mineros, ya sea por la onda expansiva y los gases tóxicos que producen en este proceso”.
El director nacional del servicio, Alfonso Domeyko, viajaba “a la zona con otros especialistas de la Subdirección de Minería para complementar el trabajo”, adelantó el organismo.
De acuerdo a la información oficial, se trata de la mina Directorio 8, Punto San José, ubicada en la localidad de Tocopilla, en la región de Antofagasta, a 700 kilómetros de la mina en la que en 2010, 33 mineros quedaron atrapados durante 70 días.
En declaraciones a medios locales, el alcalde de Tocopilla, Luis Moyano, aseguró que lograron contactarse con los tres mineros atrapados “a través de los pirquineros nuestros y de la gente también de Bomberos de Tocopilla. Estamos esperando la llegada de la gente de Sernageomin para proceder a iniciar los trabajos de sacar el material con maquinarias y personal minero a fin de proceder a encontrar a las personas que están al interior”.
